KIDS CLUTTER

Designed in collaboration with Jacob Tasker

One thing that I’ve noticed in all homes with kids is that things are always messy. I wanted to collaborate with an industrial designer to create something to solve this problem in a playful way. A lot of products that tackle the issue of “kid clutter” approach it in a very minimalistic way which I hate. When creating items for kids, versatility is an important characteristic because it allows the kid to use the product however they want, encouraging them to be creative.

This object was created to be a rocking chair, step stool, and drawing surface to encourage kids to find more uses in a single object. We wanted to create something that allows kids to have more curated items that are fun! The chair and art piece intended to work as many things to conserve space.

I wanted to create a pattern that feels like another world and promotes creativity in kids. Something that was really inspiring for me when I first started creating art was seeing projects that felt attainable for me to create. Seeing classical paintings never inspired me because they felt so far out of my grasp. The collection is intended so that kids feel like they could have created it themselves.
